NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported this morning that Denver Broncos interim head coach Jack Del Rio interviewed for the head coaching job for the University of Southern California Trojans during Denver's bye week.
Fox's Jay Glazer was first to report the story, pointing out that USC Athletic Director Pat Haden asked Denver's Executive Vice President of Football Operations John Elway for permission to interview Del Rio at the convenience of the Broncos.
The interview took place one day before John Fox's dizziness incident in Charlotte, NC that eventually led to heart surgery for the head coach.
Fox is feeling better, but is still expected to be out for at least a few more weeks. A few more wins for Del Rio and there could be a full on coaching controversy here in Denver, forget about USC. If you listen to MHR Radio, you may know which way I am leaning early.
Should everything go well for both sides, Del Rio could accept the USC job while still keeping his current position with Denver through the season.
