Wes Welker injury: Concussion may knock Broncos receiver out of Patriots homecoming

Wes Welker, Julius Thomas, and Rahim Moore are among the Broncos players injured during Week 11's win over the Chiefs. Here's the latest.

Doug Pensinger

Denver Broncos wide receiver Wes Welker has probably had the New England Patriots Sunday Night game in Week 12 circled on is calendar all year long. It will be a shame for Broncos fans and NFL fans in general if the injury he suffered in Week 11 will prevent him from facing his former teammates, and his former quarterback Tom Brady.

Welker suffered concussion-like symptoms late in Denver's 27-17 win over Kansas City and did not return. The Broncos later announced that Welker did indeed suffer a concussion, according to ProFootballTalk.com.

Per NFL's concussion policy, Welker must be evaluated by an independent neurologist and cleared to return before he can play, putting his status for Week 12 in question.

Welker, one of the Broncos' most productive receivers this season, had eight catches for 72 yards before he left the game. He was among the NFL's leading scorers with 9 touchdown receptions heading into Week 11.

Other Broncos injuries

Safety Rahim Moore suffered a lower leg injury in the first half and did not return.... Tight end Julius Thomas suffered a knee injury but was able to finish the game.

The severity of all injuries will be determined later this week.
