The Kansas City Chiefs (9-2) and Denver Broncos (9-2) face off again with first place in the AFC West - and in the AFC as a whole - on the line. It was only two weeks ago that the two teams first squared off, and Denver came away with a 27-17 victory over Kansas City. Yet a lot has changed in two weeks.
The Chiefs and Alex Smith have found an offensive rhythm - perhaps even a courage - to throw the ball deep, while the Chiefs defense has surrendered more total points in the last two weeks than they had in the four games before it. With outside linebacker Justin Houston ruled out, and Tamba Hali questionable, the Chiefs defense looks very different than it did heading into the Broncos and Chiefs' Week 1 game.
Meanwhile, the Broncos continue to try to overcome injuries, none more significant than the sprained ankles of quarterback Peyton Manning. Manning's prolific offense has been relatively grounded since he suffered the injuries in Week 6, while the Broncos continue to bit by the injury bug as a whole. Knowshon Moreno and Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie are the latest starters on the Broncos roster to go down in recent weeks.
Kansas City and Denver look like different teams than they did two weeks ago, but the change in setting could be the most significant difference of all - the Broncos will be travelling to Arrowhead Stadium, an annual House of Horrors for them every year, facing a crowd that will be fired up, thirsty for revenge, and hungry for first place.
