The Broncos have been rumored to want to add another running back to the fold. The Broncos have questions at running back heading in the 2013 season with the starting job potentially up for grabs between Knowshon Moreno and Willis McGahee, depending if both are even on the roster next season.
A report from ESPN's Rich Cimini states that the Jets are most likely to not re-sign their veteran running back making him an unrestricted free agent. Among the teams interested, one of them is reportedly the Denver Broncos.
Greene signing with the Broncos would make the backfield very crowed when you already have the previously mentioned Moreno and McGahee, along with sophmore running back Ronnie Hillman.
Green is 27, averaged 3.9 yards per carry in 2012 and had a career high 1,063 rushing yards with eight touchdowns.
Greene getting reported interest could just be his agent trying to get leverage and get money from the Jets, but the Jets have salary cap problems so the chances of his return are not high.
In my opinion, the move would not be a good one to do. Greene does not bring the Broncos anything they do not already have and could find a similar player with a bit more potential in the draft of free agency. He is not known for his pass blocking skills and would not improve the team very much.
These are just rumors in February which you get every year so take it for what it is, but I would not be surprised to continue to see the Broncos fish in the running back pond.
