some of you have had your eye on a few players for the Denver Broncos to pursue during Free Agency. I have heard murmurs of Baltimore Ravens Linebacker Danell Ellerbe being on some wish lists. The twitterverse has been revving up with news, so I thought I would share some with all of you.
Report: Ravens to make significant offer to Ellerbe nfl.com/news/story/0ap…
— NFL: AroundTheLeague (@NFL_ATL) March 8, 2013
Ellerbe made $1.927M in 2012 and he was 2nd on the Ravens in Tackles behind Bernard Pollard with 92 and added 4.5 Sacks, an Interception and a Forced Fumble. Dannell stands to get a significant raise.
Panthers announced they released CB Chris Gamble.
— Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) March 8, 2013
The Panthers needed Cap room and Gamble was the victim. According to Spotrac, Carolina cleard $7.9 M off Cap space, but will eat $3M in dead money with this move. Chris only played 4 games in 2012 before ending up on Injured Reseve with a shoulder injury. The 9 year vet has 508 career Tackles and 27 Interceptions.
Cardinals to release longtime safety Adrian Wilson nfl.com/news/story/0ap…
— NFL: AroundTheLeague (@NFL_ATL) March 8, 2013
Adrian carried a $4.925M Cap hit this year and the Cards trimmed $3M in Cap space here. Wilson is a 33 year old, 11 year vet who's numbers have been declining. He had 54 Tackles, 3 Sacks, 5 Pass Breakups, and Interception and a Forced Fumble in 2012.
3 teams are in on ex-Chiefs OT Eric Winston, and he could sign somewhere today. Important, bc the negotiating window for UFAs opens tonight.
— Albert Breer (@AlbertBreer) March 8, 2013
Winston will land somewhere very soon. He is well respected as a teammate and well respected across the league. He would look good in Orange and Blue considering his last deal was a 4-year, $22M deal. That isn't very much for a better than average Right Tackle.
Stay tuned for more updates throughout the day.
Go Broncos!
