2013 NFL Draft: Round 2 Open Thread (Picks 33-45)

USA TODAY Sports

Welcome to Day 2 of the 2013 NFL Draft! After an exciting first day, in which John Elway and the Denver Broncos selected the best player available, Bronco fans are looking forward to a more sexy pick at a skill position.

Could it be running back? Of course, you all know I am still holding out hope that Manti Te'o somehow, someway makes his way to Denver for the next 10 years. However, the big boards and pundits all think Te'o will be long gone before the 58th pick comes up.

NOTE: Keep refreshing this page after each pick as I will be updating this thread live with reactions from our own MHR Staffers. Go Broncos!

PICK TEAM PLAYER SCHOOL MHR REACTION
33 JAC Johnathan Cyprien, DB Florida International Jags get a very good safety here. Gus Bradley adds his enforcer to a defense that has many holes. Solid pick here for the Jags. ~ Scotty Payne
34 TEN Justin Hunter, WR Tennessee Hunter is a talented kid. Tall at 6'4, smaller frame and does need to work on his hands. Has great upside though. Gives Jake Locker another weapon. ~ Scotty Payne
35 PHI Zach Ertz, TE Stanford Ertz is a nice athletic Tight End for Chip Kelley. Plays more like a WR. Very good pick for the Eagles. ~ Scotty Payne
36 DET Darius Slay, CB Mississippi State Darius Slay has been a fast riser up draft boards, and obviously the Lions felt he was better than his teammate Johnathan Banks. He has some injury concerns, but played more consistently than his higher touted counterpart this year. ~ Christopher Hart
37 CIN Giovani Bernard, RB North Carolina Giovani Bernard is a solid pickup for the Bengals offense. He lacks top end speed, but has solid hustle. He's great in the passing game. Gives Andy Dalton another weapon. Solid draft so far for the Bengals. ~ Scotty Payne
38 SD Manti Te'o, ILB Notre Dame The Chargers finally get their heir to Junior Seau and you Bronco fans who hated on Te'o are going to rue this day for the next ten years. My reaction? F#$%$%&^%$&$% ~ Tim Lynch
39 NYJ Geno Smith, QB West Virginia The Jets get some QB competition for Sanchez in Geno Smith. Jets fans are cheering and somewhere Mark Sanchez is upset. ~ Scotty Payne
40 SF Tank Carradine, DE Florida State Nooo! The Rich get richer. Tank when healthy is a great edge rusher. Pair him with Aldon Smith and Niners have a pretty good young pass rush. ~ Scotty Payne
41 BUF Robert Woods, WR USC Robert Woods is a solid possession receiver who runs good routes and has excellent hands. Should be a great complimentary receiver to Calvin Johnson, Jr. and give the Lions more explosiveness in their offensive in a competitive division. ~ Christopher Hart
42 OAK Menelik Watson, OT Florida State Menelik Watson is a very raw football player with extreme upside. He is a prototypical NFL RT, but has the athleticism to man down LT. Unfortunately, there is a lot to pick up mentally for him to become a successful NFL player. I do not expect him to become a good contributor for a while because he routinely misses pass blocking assignments and gets confused blocking in space at the second level. ~ Chris Hart
43 TB Johnthan Banks, CB Mississippi State Banks is a solid pickup for the Bucs. Pair him with Revis and they have two very good ball hawks. He has good size, doesn't have the speed you would like, but has long arms and good ball skills. Very nice pick by the Bucs. ~ Scotty Payne
44 CAR Kwann Short, DT Purdue Short and Star give the Panthers a great duo in the middle. They have improved their interior D-Line greatly with the last two picks. ~ Scotty Payne
45 ARI Kevin Minter, ILB LSU Kevin Minter is the best run stuffing ILB in this draft. He will bring a physical presence to the Cardinals and has three-down potential. ~ Christopher Hart
