UPDATE: The Hunt is over. Peyton Manning worked out with Wes Welker, Demaryius Thomas, and Eric Decker this week at Duke University. Full Story.
It was just over one year ago that Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning was spotted at a Denver area high school, throwing footballs to wide receiver Eric Decker and snapping them to center J.D. Walton. The Denver Post found the trio and captured a handful of photos of Manning in action.
Taken days after signing his free agent contract with the Broncos, the photos were enough to send the entire state of Colorado into a fever pitch. Never before had gray sweat pants caused such a tizzy.
So, we wonder -- what's stopping Broncos country from finding those gray sweat pants again this year?
This is a call to Broncos fans all around the Denver area to keep their eyes open. To take an extra five minute excursion on their daily commute to drive by a high school or empty park. To look long and hard at the figures in the distance to make sure that tall, slender fellow in gray sweats isn't in fact Peyton Freaking Manning himself.
If you do happen to stumble upon Manning, be respectful. Let him do his work. But try and get a picture. If it's legit, and you send it exclusively to us, we will pay you.
Here is what we know:
- Peyton Manning and Wes Welker plan to get to work this week, ahead of the offseason workouts scheduled for next week.
- Last year, Manning and company practiced at Valor Christian High School.
- Schools aren't on Spring Break right now, so high schools may be out of the question.
- There were also reports of Manning working with Brandon Stokley in different parks around town last year.
If you do happen to stumble upon PFM and any Broncos, I cannot emphasize this enough: be respectful of Manning's space. If he ask you to leave, leave. He's trying to win the Denver Broncos a Super Bowl, after all.
But with a little luck, some MHR reader may just stumble upon The Man himself. We're just encouraging you to keep your eyes open.
