We break down Denver Broncos wide receiver Kemonte' Bateman, who is one of 16 undrafted free agent rookies the Broncos will bring in to compete in their 2013 training camp.

Kemonte' Bateman isn't afraid to make plays. The former Aggie plays taller than his 6-1 frame, eager to propel himself into the air or fight over a jump ball. He also displays great elusiveness, a trait that helped him as a punt returner for New Mexico State. A two-year transfer from Pasadena Junior College, Bateman played in every game in his two years with the Aggies, rounding up over 1100 yards and nine touchdowns.

Career Statistics
Year GP REC YDS AVG LNG TD
2012 12 50 707 14.1 67 5
2011 13 28 414 14.8 69 4
Totals 25 78 1,121 14.4 69 9

What I like most about Bateman is his aggressiveness toward the ball. Watch this film and you will see several occasions where his QB underthrows Bateman's route, or a cornerback has the inside angle on a jump ball. Bateman isn't afraid to get physical for the football, even (especially?) in mid-air, and he comes away with the football every time. (Granted, this is a highlight video, but it's still impressive).

I also like his hands and elusiveness. Bateman's route, cut, and run upfield for a touchdown at the 3:15 mark -- burning one defender and speeding past another -- was particularly tasty.

Scouting Reports: NFLDS, DB

Camp Competition: Demaryius Thomas, Eric Decker, Wes Welker, Matthew Willis, Andre Caldwell, Tavarres King, Trindon Holliday, Greg Orton, Gerell Robinson, Quincy McDuffie, Lamaar Thomas

Camp Outlook: The Broncos have a ton of bodies at wide receiver, so Bateman's practice tape will need to match his highlight reel in order to make the 53-man roster in 2013. It's not impossible -- outside of the top three Broncos receivers, there's a lot of fluidity at the position. With a camp as aggressive as any one of his plays for the football, Bateman could be a surprise survivor of the UDFA pool.
