David Terrell is confused

What would you do-ooh-ooh... for a Cutler ball?

If you're David Terrell: a little too much.

The eighth overall draft pick in 2001, Terrell flamed out as a Chicago Bear for four years before trying to latch on with the Broncos for three straight training camps. From 2005-2007 he was "that player who should, who could, FINALLY live up to his draft potential, with a little coaching and hard work." At least that's how the narrative went.

That fiction is nothing compared to the fiction Terrell has created in his own mind. After being recently named one of the Bears' all-time draft busts by Chicago publication RedEye, Terrell contacted the author to tell his side of the story. His side of the story was full of embellishments and excuses that made it clear: Terrell has deluded himself.

I mean, you have to be thoroughly delusional to say you would cut off your balls to play with Jay Cutler.

But that's exactly what Terrell, who claimed his career was cut short by inconsistent quarterback play, said.

“I would have cut off both my balls,” Terrell said. “I’d give those up, no problem. You could have neutered me. I woulda been neutered with a smile.”

You can give Terrell a little bit of credit. Chicago's quarterback situation was far from ideal from 2001 to 2005. Getting to play with a consistently Top 15 quarterback in the NFL was a notion that truly escaped him in his career.

But here's the thing: Terrell did play with Cutler. In Denver training camp. In 2006 and 2007.

Apparently, like anything resembling reality in regards to his NFL career, Terrell forgot all about it.

Either that, or Terrell just copped to a very regrettable surgery decision several years ago.
