During his tenure here as coach, Reeves' Broncos won 6 division championships and 3 AFC Championships representing the AFC in the Super Bowl thrice. Though the Broncos and Reeves never got the job done, they effectively established the winning standard that Broncos fans have come to expect out of our beloved franchise. Here's Coach Reeves records season by season:

- The Broncos managed a winning season under Dan Reeves 8 times in 12 seasons
- They won 10 or more games 7 times in 12 seasons
To put his era into context about with another great, the Broncos under head coach Mike Shanahan had 138 wins over 14 seasons (.616). and went 8-5 in the playoffs including two superbowl championships. The Broncos were AFC West Champions three times in Mike's tenure.
Dan Reeves is usually dogged because he never got it done. In 23 seasons as an NFL head coach, Dan Reeves' teams made the super bowl 4 times and lost each meeting.
Back in 98 when Mike Shanahan's Broncos faced off against Reeves' Falcons in SB 33, an old wound was ripped open when the three engaged each other about the past and more specifically the ousting of Reeves as coach here in Denver and the strained relationship he had with John Elway. I've heard nothing but good things about Reeves as a person, and it's nice to go back to a time when at least publicly both were on good terms--enjoy this clip from "The Dan Reeves Show!"
Cool 81 Factoid:
As a coach and player, Dan Reeves has made the super bowl more than any other person in history. As a Player, he played in two (SB V, VI -- won SB VI, both with the Cowboys), as an assistant coach in three (SB X, XII, XIII, won SB XII, all with Cowboys) and as a head coach in four (SB XXI, XXII, XIV, XXXII, first three with the Broncos, final one with the Falcons). His overall record in the superbowl however is 2-7.
Notable Broncos to wear #81:
Steve Watson 1979-1987
Shannon Sharpe 1990-1991
