Denver Broncos FO: John Spytek hired as SW area scout

This hiring has ties to Director of Pro Personnel Tom Heckert

John Spytek has eight seasons of personnel experience in his career. He originally began in the Philadelphia Eagles organization as an intern in 2005. The following year Spytek was promoted to a scout in 2007 and served in that capacity until 2009.

In 2010 he was hired as director of college scouting by the Cleveland Browns where he spent the past three seaons New regimes mean change and Spytek was fired by new Browns GM Michael Lombardi. As you recall Tom Heckert was the former Browns GM and both men had ties to the Eagles organization.

Russell and Elway remain the two most important figures in the Broncos front office, and to be sure, this hiring does not diminish the role of either. The Broncos are putting men who have experience running entire portions of front office personnel departments into lesser roles. My take is that it is always good to have people with abundant knowledge at all tiers of an organization.
