Denver's DUI duo (coming up with that nickname made me sick) should be preparing for more than legal ramifications from their irresponsible behavior in the coming weeks. Professional consequences are nigh.
Matt Russell and Tom Heckert - both top Broncos execs, and both arrested on DUI charges in the last month - may receive discipline from the Denver Broncos before they submit to judgment from the courts and even before they hear from the NFL.
Broncos-NFL are in discussions about process of discipline for Matt Russell-Tom Heckert. Broncos could impose discipline first.

Broncos will announce disciplinary measures for front office execs BEFORE the NFL takes action. Joe Ellis not happy.

Russell, the team's Director of Player Personnel, was named to his current position as John Elway's right-hand man in January of 2012. He was arrested over the July 7th weekend after rear-ending a police cruiser and charged with driving under the influence, careless driving resulting in injury, having an open container of alcohol in his car, and failure to display proof of insurance.
Heckert, the team's Director of Pro Personnel, was named to his current position only in May of this year. On June 11th, he was arrested in Parker and charged with driving under the influence and careless driving.
"This type of behavior is unacceptable and very troubling," the Denver Broncos said in a statement Tuesday. "We expect better from all employees, particularly those in leadership positions. These allegations completely contradict the values and beliefs of the Broncos regarding social responsibility."
The Broncos are looking at ways to hold these "leaders" accountable to these values as we speak. Hear, hear, I say.
