Von Miller will miss games against: Ravens, Giants, Raiders, Eagles, Cowboys, and Jaguars. Back for Week 7 vs. Colts
— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) August 20, 2013
These are the games Von Miller will miss. A Home game against the Ravens, then they visit the Giants, home against the Raiders and Eagles, at Dallas, and home against the Jags.
Looking at this schedule, the Broncos should be okay. The Eagles, Raiders and Jags won't be very good this year and we should be able to beat them without Von Miller. The Ravens, Giants and Cowboys will be tough, but I see no reason why we cannot beat them. Worst case I see 3-3, best case obviously 6-0.
Another reason not to worry is... well, Peyton Manning. Remember we have a future Hall Of Fame QB in Manning. We also have Demaryius Thomas, Eric Decker, and Wes Welker. Julius Thomas has looked great in the preseason, and we'll be getting Joel Dreessen and Jacob Tamme back healthy near the opener. A healthy Ryan Clady is also on his way back for Week One as well. Our offense is good enough to keep us afloat during these six games.
Furthermore, Miller will only miss one division game - Denver's Week Three Monday Night game against the Raiders. This Raiders team may have the first overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft. We should be able to win that game. That leaves five all important division games left with Von Miller back in the fold.
Von Miller isn't the only pass rusher on the team. The Broncos have Robert Ayers, who is hungry in the final year of his contract, Second year players Derek Wolfe and Malik Jackson need to step up. (Wolfe was getting JJ Watt comparisons this offseason), veteran Shaun Phillips who has shown he can get after the passer in his career, Nate Irving, Wesley Woodyard and Danny Trevathan who are all good blitzing linebackers, and rookies Sylvester Williams and Quanterius Smith who can also get after the QB. Add Champ Bailey, DRC, Chris Harris, Rahim Moore and Duke Ihenacho patrolling the secondary, and the defense should remain sound.
Next man up.
Also, Jack Del Rio and John Fox are two of the better defensive minds in the game. Scheming and good game planning can do wonders. Let our coaches earn their money
So as I said, it's not the end of the world. We'll have Von Miller back for the tough second half of our schedule. Miller will be back to greet Andrew Luck and the Colts, RG3 and the Redskins, our five remaining division games, Tom Brady and the Patriots and the Houston Texans. Broncos Country... breathe. We will be okay!
