Thoughts and reactions

The Broncos decided to keep Zac Dysert which was a bit of a surprise. Most thought he could clear waivers and be stashed on the practice squad. Obviously the Broncos didn't think that was the case.

We can now say Elway may keep us on our toes as 5th round WR Tavarres King was waived. I thought he'd stick. A bit curious the Broncos would keep only 4 true WR. Then again, the 4th and 5th WR's last year had 26 targets total. They do not matter much in a Manning offense. Even if one of the three starters goes down, Caldwell provides adequate depth both in the slot and on the outside.

I'm going to give the Duke kudos on swallowing pride and cutting bait with a draft pick. It seemed as if many conversations this offseason began or ended with "well he's an Elway draft pick etc". If the guy didn't have enough talent to stick so be it. Perhaps King can clear waivers and be placed on the PS.

All four TE's stuck which was a sticking point of mine all offseason.

The Lilja, Davis, Cornick, and Blake cuts were not surprises.

Keeping 11 defensive backs is a surprise. But when you're thin at LB, (5 on the active roster) it allows you to keep one from another position group. Look for the Broncos to add another LB in the near future especially with Bradley on IR.
