Broncos have signed Center/Guard Manny Ramirez to a two year contract extension. This will keep the versatile offensive linemen under contract through the 2015 season.
Manny is the Broncos current starter at center, and plans to be there until the end of the season. The Broncos will get impending free agent J.D Walton off the PUP after week 6. This is a solid signing by the Broncos. Ramirez isn't a fan favorite, but he Is a versatile player who can start at all three interior spots If called on.
Ramirez started week one against the vaunted Baltimore Ravens defense, and he played well. Manny did not allow a sack, and earned praise of Head Coach John Fox.
"I thought he performed well," Fox said. "That was a very formidable front that we played against. I haven’t seen everybody, but they’re in the top five in the league. They’ve got more than one deep. I thought, all-in-all, was it perfect? No. But for a first outing, I thought our offensive line matched up very well.”
Quarterback Peyton Manning also spoke highly of Ramirez back in late August...
"Ramirez has done a heck of a job in everything we have asked of him,"
Manny played in a career high 15 games in 2012, only commited 3 penalties, and earned a positive grade from Pro Football Focus for his performance. Lets hope Manny keeps up the solid play through the 2013 season.
Go Broncos!
