Broncos Start 'Em, Sit 'Em for Week 3

Your weekly Denver Broncos fantasy outlook!

Maddie Meyer

It's week three of the NFL season already, and our Denver Broncos will take on their long time division rival Oakland Raiders in a Monday Night Football showdown. This should be a good matchup for the Broncos, so lets take a look at the guys who you should start, and who you should sit.

Quarterback:

Peyton Manning: START

If you drafted Peyton Manning he should be starting every week. Peyton Manning has put up 769 yards, 9 touchdown passes, and zero interception through the first two weeks of the NFL season.

Yahoo projects Peyton Manning to put up 25.5 points against the Raiders. The Raiders have given up the 11th most fantasy points to QB's so far this season. He should be your QB1 all season

Bottom Line: If you have Manning on your team, start him!

Running Backs:

Knowshon Moreno: SIT IF YOU CAN

Moreno is coming off a big game against the New York Giants where he put up 22.7 points. Last weeks performance might go down as his best game as a pro. Now should you start him against the Raiders? I would say sit him unless you have no better options at RB2 or the Flex. Moreno's role is still a but unpredictable for me to start him on a weekly basis. Moreno is a decent RB2, solid RB3.

According to Yahoo.com Moreno is projected to get 10.64 points this week. The Raiders have given up the 2nd fewest points to Running Backs.

Bottom Line: Sit Moreno If you can. I think he could be a decent Flex option though.

Montee Ball/Ronnie Hillman: SIT

The rookie Montee Ball has been getting his share of carries, but has yet to do anything productive with it. He has been getting goal line carries, and that alone Is why he should be on your roster. Ball shouldn't be starting in any of your lineups.

Ronnie Hillman has been invisible thus far, and probably should be dropped from your benches

Bottom Line: Ball could be a high risk/high reward flex play because of his goal line work. Ronnie Hillman should be dropped.

Receivers:

Demaryius Thomas: START

Thomas is a solid WR1 or WR2 every week. Last week was a disappointing game for Thomas owners(me), Thomas only put up 5.2 points against the Giants. I'm looking for a bounce back week for Thomas. I think Manning is going to pick apart the Raiders defense, and that usually means big plays for DT.

Yahoo.com projects Thomas to get 10.62 points against the Oakland Raiders. The Raiders defense has given up the 11th fewest fantasy points so far this season.

Bottom Line: He's Peyton Manning's big play guy. Start him

Wes Welker: START

Welker Is a solid WR2, WR3, or a solid Flex option this week. Welker might not be getting all the catches he was getting In New England, but so far he is getting his touchdowns. Through two games, Welker has caught 3 TD passes. Manning has been looking to Welker on third downs, and In the Red Zone.

Yahoo.com projects Welker to get 9.66 points against the Raiders. The Raiders defense has given up the 11th fewest fantasy points so far this season.

Bottom Line: Welker is a solid WR2/Flex this week. Manning has been looking for him in the red zone. If owned he should be in your starting lineup.

Eric Decker: SIT

After a brutal week 1 performance fantasy wise, Decker had a decent showing week two. Decker lead the team in receptions, and totaled 8.7 points. The Broncos have so many weapons that one or two guys might be the odd man out. What concerns me is his lack of touchdowns. Last season Decker was a WR1. This season he's no better then a WR3 or Flex guy right now.

Yahoo.com projects Decker to get 9.24 points this week against the Raiders. The Raiders defense has given up the 11th fewest fantasy points so far this season.

Bottom Line: Decker will be a fringe starter for me every weeks It seems. If you have him he might be worth a WR3 or Flex spot this week. It will depend on your matchups though

Tight End:

Julius Thomas: START

Thomas had a solid week two performance fantasy wise. Thomas totaled 10.7 points last week. Thomas will be a mismatch problem for just about every defense in the NFL this year. He's big man who will be targeted in the red zone by Peyton Manning. Thomas In my opinion is a TE1 and should start most weeks.

Yahoo.com projects Thomas to get only 7.7 points against the Raiders defense. The Raiders have given up the 12th most Fantasy points to Tight Ends this year.

Bottom Line: I think Orange Julius Is in for a big game on Monday Night. If you have him, start him.

Defense/Special Teams

Denver: START

The Denver Defense/Special teams put up 15 points last week against the Giants. This week it's a easy choice to start them. The Raiders have a inexperienced running QB at the helm. Look for the Broncos to rack up sacks, and Interceptions against Terrelle Pryor. Trindon Holliday has the potential to take one to the house whenever he touches the ball in the return game as well.

Yahoo.com projects the Broncos defense to get 9.76 points against the Raiders this week.

Bottom Line: The Broncos offense is going to score points, and make Terrelle Pryor pass the ball to keep up. That right there is the recipe for turnovers. The Broncos defense Is a easy start this week.
