VIDEO: Broncos RBs Play Rock-Paper-Scissors for Goal Line Carry

You know the story by now.

Late in the game during the Denver Broncos' 37-21 victory over the Oakland Raiders on Monday Night Football earlier this week, Denver's three running backs played rock-paper-scissors allegedly to decide who would get the goal line carry.

On TV, it appeared that Knowshon Moreno clearly won, but according to USA Today's Lindsay Jones, he was disqualified for jumping the gun:

As the officials deliberated if Hillman had crossed the goal line after a 13-yard gain, Hillman, Moreno and Ball decided to play rock-paper-scissors for which running back would get the goal line carry if the score was overturned. Hillman said Moreno threw down a rock one beat too early and was disqualified, and Hillman's scissors trumped Ball's paper.

So on the next play, it was Hillman's touchdown.

The running backs "were just having fun," Hillman said after the game. The video can be seen below:

On Tuesday, Broncos head coach John Fox shot down the idea that the rock-paper-scissors game had anything to do with the decision to give Hillman the carry.

"That's just stuff for people who like to get on TV and have something to talk about,'' Fox told ESPN's Jeff Legwold. "I mean, Ronnie Hillman was going back in the game, that had nothing to do with that, it was just trying to have fun I guess. Ronnie was going in the ballgame. We decide that, that had nothing to do with it."

Regardless of whether or not it factored into the team's decision, it was entertaining to watch it unfold. Yet after Fox rebuked it so strongly, we don't expect to see it happen again any time soon.
