After his comments toward 49er receiver Michael Crabtree yesterday, most people teed off on a guy who quite frankly was going off pure emotion. Think about it. You make the play of the game to lock up a trip to the Super Bowl for your team and moments later you have a microphone stuck in your face? Yes Sherman is outspoken and brash but no one could ever accuse him of being insincere.
A couple of weeks ago in his weekly column for MMQB, Sherman named Broncos QB Peyton Manning the smartest signal caller in the league.
In today's blog, Sherman continues to show the Broncos offense respect:
The Broncos stand in our way, and it's a large obstacle. They've got the smartest quarterback in football and receivers who are large (mostly), explosive with the football and run great routes. Wes Welker is quick and elusive, Eric Decker is a great receiver with hands and speed, and Demaryius Thomas is as strong as they come. And Peyton knows how to get each of them in spots.
It's the No. 1 offense vs. the No. 1 defense. It's a match made in heaven, and we couldn't be more excited. If you're any kind of competitor and you have any kind of dog about you, you want to play against the best. Finally, we get the opportunity.
Sherman knows the task at hand is tall, but I can guarantee you so do Adam Gase and Peyton Manning. The Broncos have faced some decent competition this year. There have been teams that were able to get to Peyton Manning and pressure him, there have been teams that were able to press our receivers and bottle up our passing game, and there have been teams that were able to shut down our running game, but Seattle poses a triple threat.
They have the talent and scheme to challenge the Broncos offense at every level and facet of the game.
Whether you're a Bronco fan or Seahawks fan, you can rest assured that the respect between the two teams will be mutual over the next couple of weeks.
GO BRONCOS!!!
