*The Broncos played 1148 snaps on defense
Snap Counts
Shaun Phillips played the most along the defensive line with close to 70% of the total snap count. Ayers, Jackson, Knighton, and Wolfe come on the next tier averaging anywhere from 48-52% of the snaps. Wolfe was on track to play the most out of anyone before his illness.
Trevathan played the most out of any Broncos LB. Next up is Wesley Woodyard and then Von Miller who missed the first 6 games.
Chris Harris takes the title on defense with the highest percentage of snaps played. I was a bit surprised that DRC didn't play more snaps than he did, even if he did miss some time after the NE injury.
Grades
Your highest rated Bronco is Von Miller. He also placed first amongst his position group. The most solid group has to be the defensive line who saw Knighton (9th) and Jackson (12th) place in the top 15 amongst DT's and Ayers (15th) and Phillips (18th) place top 20 amongst DE's.
The Broncos have a great DB tandem of Chris Harris Jr. and Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie who both rank top 10 amongst NFL corners. With Champ Bailey back and in the slot, this has to be a stronger group heading into the playoffs.
I have to admit it, Quentin Jammer has been a valuable role player providing some much needed decent play as a reserve.
Our safety play has been atrocious, though Rahim Moore was having the best season out of that group before he was injured.
Money
From the Defensive line, the Broncos received the best production per cap dollar from Malik Jackson. Danny Trevathan is the same deal from the linebackers, as is Chris Harris Jr. from the secondary. This is what happens when you have find gems late in the draft and from the undrafted ranks. Not surprisingly Champ Bailey made the most per snap raking in a staggering $55K per play.
