Broncos vs. Jets Injury Report: Montee Ball out, Eric Decker questionable

Broncos at Jets injury report: With the notable exception of starting running back Montee Ball, the Denver Broncos are still quite healthy on their way to NJ. Eric Decker's hamstring injury is still giving him some problems, and his return to the field is questionable.

Jake Roth-USA TODAY Sports

The Denver Broncos are heading to NJ after practice today to prepare for their early game with the New York Jets Sunday morning.

Broncos off the injury report this week:

Four Broncos are off the injury report this week. Louis Vasquez (G) Rib Cage, Quinton Carter (S) Knee, Virgil Green (TE) Concussion, and Danny Trevathan (LB) Knee. All of this is good news but the Vasquez and Trevathan news makes me the happiest.

Broncos new to the Injury Report this week:

Of course the big news here is Montee Ball. His groin strain will keep him off the field for 3-4 weeks.

Here's what Adam Gase had to say earlier about the run game and Ball's absence:

"I like the three guys we've got. We've stuck with that group that whole way and with Montee going down, [RB] Ronnie [Hillman] was really making some strides. We had a little bit of a setback. He missed some time that week in practice and then now we're back up to speed and he played really well last week. He gave us a little bit of a spark and he got through the line quick and made some explosive runs which we hadn't had in a while. [RB] Juwan [Thompson], I feel comfortable with. [RB] C.J. [Anderson], he's shown me he can do it. The numbers didn't fall his way last week and he was [inactive]. I like that group. It's a sharp group and they run hard and we just have to make sure we're on it this week because this is probably one of our tougher matchups as far as scheme-wise."

Juwan Thompson is still dealing with a knee injury that temporarily took him out of the Cardinals game on Sunday. I'm sure he is itching to get back on the field and show everyone what he's got. It certainly looks like Thompson will be out there and get significant playing time.

Andre Caldwell is new to the report this week for a knee injury that also took him out of the game last Sunday. I know a lot of people are hoping Caldwell will be inactive for the Jets game so Cody Latimer might get his chance to shine. However, Caldwell was a full participant all week with the Broncos so it looks like he could easily play on Sunday.

Chris Harris Jr. is on the report after being off it last week for his knee. I'm guessing this is just a lingering effect from his ACL surgery last season and nothing to be too concerned about. Michael Schofield is on the report for missing practice time due to a death in his family.

Repeat Broncos on the injury report:

David Bruton and Lerentee McCray are all repeat Broncos from last weeks injury report. The good news is both players have moved from "limited" to "full" participation this week. Brandon McManus remains on the injury report for a right groin injury. Hard to say if that injury has affected him at all in the games. I will say I detest the word 'groin' so I'm really wanting McManus and Ball to get better fast!

What about those Jets?

It remains questionable if Eric Decker will face his former team on Sunday. Rex Ryan was quoted after Friday's practice that he was hoping Decker could have done more this week in practice.
