The Denver Broncos had an off game today, but still held on for a respectable road win against a team in a free fall right now in the New York Jets. Peyton Manning should at least tie the touchdown record next week against the San Francisco 49ers.
Wes Welker's third down catch at the two minute warning sealed the deal - his first catch of the day too - and the Broncos are now 4-1. Then Aqib Talib takes one to the house to really seal it in the final seconds of the game. Take it, move on to a much better team in the 49ers.
What about this afternoon's pick'em predictions?
San Diego Chargers (4-1) at Oakland Raiders (0-4)
The San Diego Chargers are balling pretty good early this season with Philip Rivers looking like a legitimate MVP candidate so far. Meanwhile, the Oakland Raiders are still owned by inept owners and will continue to be a laughingstock in this league. This game shouldn't even be close. Prediction: Chargers 28, Raiders 10.
Chicago Bears (2-3) at Atlanta Falcons (2-3)
Jay Cutler is the most annoying person on the planet right now. For me anyway. He blew a lead to lose yet again when I picked him and now today, he'll probably play like a boss and win the game. However, the Falcons are studs at home, so I've gotta play it safe here and go with the home team. Prediction: Falcons 27, Bears 20.
Dallas Cowboys (4-1) at Seattle Seahawks (3-1)
For the only time this year I will be rooting for the Seahawks like crazy to win this game. The last thing the NFL needs is for the media to go nuts over the Dallas Cowboys. Let their 4-1 start get a little deflated today with a blowout loss to the defending Super Bowl champions please.. Prediction: Seahawks 34, Cowboys 13.
Washington Redskins (1-4) at Arizona Cardinals (3-1)
Kirk Cousins played hard last week against the Seahawks, but it wasn't enough to lift the Redskins to a victory. I do like this spot though as the Cardinals are reeling for getting it handed to them in Denver last week. I just don't like them enough to take a chance today as my Jaguars pick earlier today totally screwed me. Prediction: Cardinals 20, Redskins 17.
New York Giants (3-2) at Philadelphia Eagles (4-1) (SNF)
I really distrust Nick Foles and the Eagles as they have yet to play with any kind of consistency. The Giants on the other hand are playing really well right now as Eli Manning is starting to figure things out again. This could be another upset game, but again I am too chicken to go for the upset today. Sigh... Prediction: Eagles 27, Giants 24.
