Denver Broncos defense has a strong showing against the New York Jets - Horse Tracks

News of the day after the Denver Broncos dispatched the New York Jets in MetLife Stadium, 31-17.

Brad Penner-USA TODAY Sports

It feels good to say this, and I have been saying it for weeks now, but boy it's good to have Von Miller back to his dominant self. In his eleventh multi-sack game of his career, Miller finished with six tackles, two sacks and one heck of a pass defense. Sick!

Add Miller's performance to strong showings from DeMarcus Ware, Aqib Talib, and rookie Bradley Roby and you got yourself one heck of a stout defense. The Denver Broncos gave up just 173 yards passing and a paltry 31 yards rushing to the New York Jets offense that had been 6th best in the NFL until yesterday.

Speaking of Talib, he is now tied for second most interceptions returned for touchdowns in the NFL since 2009 with five and none bigger than his fate-sealing pick six to close out Geno Smith and the Jets chances of mounting a comeback.

On offense, Peyton Manning in just a little over two full seasons passed Jake Plummer for fourth place for the all-time passing yards list with 11,666 yards passing since joining the Broncos in 2012. Oh and he also now has 110 touchdown passes since he joined the Broncos as well. Sick!

Demaryius Thomas continued his beastly play with 10 catches for 124 yards. He is now third all-time in Broncos history with 20 100-yard receiving games behind just Ring of Famer's Lionel Taylor and Rod Smith. He is also second in the NFL for most 100-yard receiving games since 2011, trailing only Calvin Johnson in that category. Meanwhile, Julius Thomas has nine touchdown catches through five games. That is two more than any player in NFL history has caught through the first give games of any season. Sick and Sick!

Fun stuff. Let's get on with the news this morning... 4-1 baby!

I’ve got a lot to say about the insanity of this season, about the Cowboys being up and the Seahawks down, about the Patriots being left for dead on the side of the road and now this, about Aaron Rodgers pulling the Dan Marino fake spike in the House That Dan Built, and I will soon.
