This evening will kick off a crucial three game stretch for the Broncos, starting with inter-conference foe 49ers. If the past is any indication the defense is molding into an elite force while the Broncos offense is still struggling to come together on a consistent basis. Four days after, the Broncos will remain home while divisional leading San Diego Chargers come into town fresh off an afternoon tilt with the Chiefs. Afterwards both teams will have a mini-bye of sorts with an 11-day layoff. From there the Broncos will play New England (5-2) despite fielding a patchwornk defense and offensive line.
If the Broncos sweep this stretch entirely, they will be in the drivers seat for a first round bye. Conversely, if they manage somehow to drop a few games, the race is wide open with Denver looking up.
