Update 3:45 p.m. MST: Bibbs is back on the Broncos practice squad after the Cardinals opted to sign Michael Bush instead. Original story follows below.
Getting running back Kapri Bibbs back on Denver's practice squad may not be as easy as the Broncos hoped.
Bibbs was released last Friday by the Denver Broncos to make room for RB Jeremy Stewart on the active roster. The Broncos expected to be able to re-sign Bibbs to their practice squad, where he has spent seven weeks this season.
They'll have to cross their fingers that the Arizona Cardinals don't like what they see in the undrafted rookie who cleared waivers Monday.
The Arizona Cardinals are among the worst in the NFL in rushing yardage this season (862 yards total) and earlier this season jettisoned their best backup over legal concerns.
Earlier this season, Bibbs was signed to Denver's active roster to avoid the Buffalo Bills signing him off of the Broncos' practice squad. The Broncos currently have three healthy running backs (C.J. Anderson, Juwan Thompson and Scott) on their roster and two in the physical therapy room (Ronnie Hillman and Montee Ball), all five currently count towards the 53-man roster.
Bibbs led Denver's running backs in touchdowns this preseason with three and had 84 yards on 19 carries.
