Live Blog - Week 16 NFL Saturday Thread

Welcome to Saturday football! I went with the Eagles and Chargers in this one, but that's because the other two teams are dumpster fires right now.

The Washington Redskins should not be as bad as they are from a record standpoint, but that just goes to show how important it is to have stability at the quarterback position in today's NFL. In my view, Kirk Cousins is still the best quarterback on their roster, but his only chance to play again will come from another team in 2015. It's the Robert Griffin III show in Washington and that's that.

As for the Philadelphia Eagles, Mark Sanchez is no longer thought of as being reborn and a whooping 41% of Eagles fans have already mailed it in for this season. That might be a big premature, because I'm picking the Eagles in this one. The Redskins are just too dysfunctional.

Prediction: Eagles 30, Redskins 16.

Final Score: Redskins 27, Eagles 24

San Diego Chargers

San Francisco 49ers

11th Pass Off. 28th
31st Rush Off. 13th
9th Pass Def. 3rd
13th Rush Def. 8th
8-6 Levi's Stadium, Santa Clara, CA 7-7
3rd AFC West 49ers Favored 3rd NFC West

The only playoff implications in this game are centered around the San Diego Chargers, who must win out and hope one of those AFC North teams lose some games. If there is any team that can get hot right now and snag that final playoff spot is this one. Once in the tournament, they would be one of the more dangerous Wild Card teams.

Meanwhile, the San Francisco 49ers have apparently mailed it in and were eliminated from playoff contention last week. Already, head coaching changes are being discussed. Both former-Broncos head coach Josh McDaniels and current Broncos offensive coordinator Adam Gase are in that discussion. That cannot help the players mindsets heading into this game, which makes me think the desperate Chargers are going to run away with this one.

Prediction: Chargers 34, 49ers 13.

Final Score: Chargers 38, 49ers 35
