Demaryius Thomas Injury: Broncos receiver's status in question vs. Bills

Demaryius Thomas sits out practice but appears alright for Sunday.

The Denver Broncos are suddenly a little banged up at the wide receiver position. First receiver Demaryius Thomas missed today's practice with a bruised ankle that he suffered during yesterday's practice. A teammate stepped on his right ankle during Wednesday's practice, which left the star receiver hobbled after practice.

This injury leaves Thomas questionable for Sunday's game against the Bills. Head Coach John Fox really wouldn't clarify on Thomas's timetable, he just listed him as "day-to-day, like everybody else on the injury report."

The other injury was to rookie wide receiver Cody Latimer. According to Fox, Latimer left practice with concussion-like symptoms and was being evaluated. Fox said Latimer would go through the league-mandated protocol. It's likely that Latimer will be inactive for this Sunday's game.

Fox said he wasn't sure when Latimer may have suffered the concussion (Sunday Night or during practice), just that he was displaying the symptoms and is now being evaluated for a concussion.

Tight end Julius Thomas was listed as limited again as he continues to work his way back from an ankle injury that he suffered against the St. Louis Rams. There's hope that Julius will be able to return to action against the Bills on Sunday. He has been doing some drill work, which is encouraging for his availability on Sunday.

Cornerback Kayvon Webster and safety Quinton Carter also missed their second straight practice this week. Webster injured his shoulder against the Dolphins, and Carter is dealing with a knee injury.

Defensive tackle Terrance Knighton suffered a cut elbow during practice on Thursday. Knighton needed his elbow to be taped up, and he was listed as limited.

It wasn't all bad news on the injury front today. Receiver Wes Welker returned to practice after receiving a "veteran day off" on Wednesday, linebacker Lerentee McCray returned to practice after sitting out Wednesday's practice with an illness, and tight end Jacob Tamme also returned to practice after missing yesterday's with a rib injury.

Cornerback Aqib Talib was full go for the second straight day, and is set to start against the the Buffalo Bills this Sunday.
