Demaryius Thomas says he would take a hometown discount to stay with the Denver Broncos.

Ron Chenoy-USA TODAY Sports

Denver Broncos' wide receiver Demaryius Thomas appeared on NFL Network's Total Access tonight, and told Dan Hellie that he would take a "hometown discount" to stay with the Denver Broncos this offseason.

Thomas, who is to be a Free Agent at year's end, is set for a big payday this offseason. The Broncos and Thomas have already had some initial contract talks but tabled those talks until the end of the season. NFL Network's Dan Hellie asked Thomas if he would take a "hometown discount" to stay in Denver, and here's what he had to say:

"Of course, why not?" Thomas asked. "Peyton is one of the best in the game, and I've been blessed to have him as my quarterback. I learned so much of him. Denver, of course I gotta take my hats off to them because they took a chance of drafting me in the first round."

I'm not sure if that's what Thomas's agent really wanted to hear, but it sounds like Thomas wants to stay in "Wide Receiver Heaven" for the foreseeable future.

Thomas is having another great season for the Denver Broncos. Through 12 games this season, he has 88 receptions for 1,255 yards and 10 touchdowns. Thomas only needs 145 more yards to become only the third receiver in NFL history to have a season with at least 10 touchdowns and 1,450 yards. The only other two players to do that are the great Jerry Rice and Marvin Harrison.

I believe Demaryius Thomas will sign a long-term contract with the Broncos this offseason. I don't see John Elway letting his young playmaker (and Peyton Manning's favorite weapon) walk this offseason.

Also if Thomas is serious about the "hometown discount" the money saved can help keep the likes of Chris Harris Jr., Julius Thomas, Terrence "Pot Roast" Knighton, and others.
