Denver Broncos can clinch AFC West with victory in San Diego

After the Chiefs derped one in the desert to Arizona and the Chargers lost on the road to the Patriots in San Diego (yes you read that correctly), the Broncos are now in prime position to claim their 4th straight AFC Western Division Crown.

Current AFC West Standings:

1) Denver, 10-3 (4-0 division, 8-1 AFC)

2) San Diego, 8-5 (2-2 division, 6-4 AFC)

3) Kansas City, 7-6 (1-3 division, 5-4 AFC) ---Eliminated---

4) Oakland ----Eliminated----

As you can see the Chiefs are eliminated from contention. If a three way 10-6 tie were to occur, Kansas City would lose divisional and head to head tie breakers.

With a three-way 10-6 finish, the Broncos and Chargers would go to the strength of victory tie breaker.

This is all just speculation however.

What we know for sure is that the Denver Broncos would clinch the AFC West next with w a win or tie against the San Diego Chargers.

There are no guarantees, but the Broncos are firmly in the drivers seat in the West and more importantly for a 1st round bye.

After a brief respite from the traveling, the Broncos will go on the road the next two weeks to face the Chargers and Bengals. A win against both would clinch at least the #2 seed, a first round bye, and a home playoff game in the divisional round.                             ;./
