Broncos receiver Eric Decker appeared on SiriusXM NFL Radio today and had some interesting things to say. Eric Decker says money won't be the only factor when it comes to his decision on whether to re-sign with the Denver Broncos.
"It's not all about the money for me. It's about going to work every day and having fun and enjoying my job,"
The Broncos are planning on letting Decker test Free Agency when the market opens March 11th, and is expected to be the top unrestricted Free Agent receiver on the market. Decker, 26 is coming off another solid year for the Broncos. Decker caught 87 passes for 1,288 yards and 11 touchdowns.
However, it doesn't seem like the Broncos and Decker are close on money, but isn't closing the door on a possible return to the Denver Broncos.
If you're one of the fans that want Eric Decker back next season, this news should worry you. Decker implies that the he and the Broncos front office are not on the same page, and that he would like to be back, but he needs to do what's best for his family.
Translation: he's taking the money.
It was reported back before the Super Bowl that the Broncos only view Decker as a number two receiver, not a number one receiver. So the Broncos are not going to pay him the money he's seeking. Also, the Broncos are going to let Decker test Free Agency. It appears the Broncos plan is that they will let Decker go out and receive offers from other teams, and when he gets an offer he likes he will go back to Denver and see if they decide to match it or not. Rapport does say that there's no guarantee that Decker even comes back to the Broncos with a contract, the Broncos just hope he does.
It's starting to appear that Eric Decker will be playing for another team in 2014.
