Quotes: Broncos players clean out their lockers after Super Bowl loss

Two days after losing Super Bowl XLVIII, some thoughts from the Denver Broncos as they cleaned out their locker. Head Coach John Fox and Executive VP John Elway also met with the press; we'll have quotes and thoughts from that later today.

Thanks to Broncos PR for providing us these transcripts.

Defensive tackle Terrance Knighton on if the loss has sunk in yet

"Well, it has. I'm proud of the season that we had, the adversity that we went through-the injuries that we experienced, losing [Head] Coach [John] Fox in the middle of the season-and to make it as far as we did, it's still a success. It didn't end how we wanted it to end. They played better than us on the last day of the season, but there are a lot of positives we can take out of the season."

Knighton on if he still focuses on one play or moment he'd like to have back

"No. They (Seattle) deserved it. They came out and played better, and it's a lesson we'll just have to learn. We should have the same core nucleus of guys back, but for right now, it's just a good time to take your mind off of football and enjoy your family and ease your mind and just because we played so long into the season. It's a short offseason, so we'll have to snap back into it quick. "

"We got a taste of the Super Bowl. We didn't finish how we wanted to, but we know what it takes to get there, and now, we know what it takes to win it." - Terrance Knighton

Knighton on if it leaves him itching for more after the season they had

"Yeah. We got a taste of the Super Bowl. We didn't finish how we wanted to, but we know what it takes to get there, and now, we know what it takes to win it. "

Knighton on if he realizes it is the last time that whole group of guys will be in that locker room together

"Yeah, and in this business, you know the team will never be the same. Most of the guys will stick around, but you know there will be a few wrinkles and a few additions to make this a Super Bowl team and hoist that trophy. Whatever happens, happens. There'll be new coaches and there'll be new players, and when we come back in April, everybody will have to be ready and on the same page quick. "

Cornerback Champ Bailey on whether saying goodbye to teammates is tougher this year

"You get this far and you're together this long, it does sting a little more because you built up so many more relationships than you have in the past. I've been through several seasons and forget some of the guys I've played with, but there is not a guy in this locker room I won't remember."

Bailey on looking back on the season

"It's always going to be difficult to look back. It is what it is. We lost. They played better than we did. You have to move on."

Bailey on what the team has to do to take the next step

"We got close, but obviously we just have to be more ready to play. I just felt like they were more ready, they wanted it more and the obvious outcome was that they won."

Guard Zane Beadles on the last day the entire team is together

"It's hard any time. We had a great group of guys and a lot of guys that I consider good friends. That is always tough. You never want to end the season the way we did. This group will never be together as it is right now again. So, it's a tough day."

Beadles on whether the sting has gone away

"Absolutely not. I don't know if it ever will, if it will take time-I don't know. I've never been in this situation before. We'll see how it goes."

"I thought we did a good job preparing for the game."-Eric Decker. Editor's note: I hope he wasn't serious.

Wide receiver Eric Decker on whether the Broncos are close to winning a Super Bowl with this team

"I thought we did a good job preparing for the game. We had a great season. We battled through a lot to get to what we got to. We just didn't start strong and never had momentum, never changed momentum throughout the game and didn't make enough plays to allow ourselves to have a chance. They came out, they played a very strong, solid game, I thought, all-around. [They] were very complementary with their game plan. It's unfortunate for how hard we've worked in here, for the coaching staff-staff has done in general upstairs-Mr. Bowlen and really the fans that have stuck with us through everything."

Running back Knowshon Moreno on if the loss has sunk in

"Yeah, it's still there-knowing that you put in that hard work and got there and didn't get it done. We'll move forward from there."

Tight end Jacob Tamme on enjoying the season making the end tough

"Yeah we talk about it all the time but you never get the same group again, that's the way the NFL works. You'll never be in the same locker room with the same guys and that'll be no different this year. That makes today-it's not the most fun day. It's really one of the least fun days especially given the way that it ended. But it's part of it and the guys that you built a camaraderie with, you keep in touch with, you develop some friendships in this league that are pretty special and that's one of the best parts of it and one of the hardest parts on days like today."

Tamme on how close the team is to winning a Super Bowl

"I don't know, it's hard. I still haven't gotten far enough away from the game to really think about all that. All I know is we played one of our worst games of the year and they played exceptionally well. You have to give them credit for the way they played. We know that we didn't operate and execute the way that we needed to as a team in all three phases and that's the disappointing part of it."

Defensive tackle Kevin Vickerson on the offseason

"All you can do is control yourself, control your business-don't want to be in the headlines this offseason. Take care of yourself on and off the field. Get ready to come back faster and stronger."

Vickerson on how he's feeling physically

"Better. Everything is getting better. A long offseason for me-starting out rehabbing. I already started and the strengthening process. So now it's just getting back in shape and getting the strength back, too."

Vickerson on whether he will be ready by OTAs and training camp

"I should be ready."
