For the Texans, this draft feels eerily familiar to the 2002 draft. As with Peppers in 2002, you have a freakish DE on the board with Jadeveon Clowney. The "Best Player Available" philosophy says he should be the pick here, but when you don't have a QB, you need to take one. Carolina took Peppers in 2002, and it still took nine years for them to find their franchise QB.
Another parallel with 2002 is that there isn't a home run pick at QB. There's a lot to like about Blake Bortles, and I'm not sold on Teddy Bridgewater. Besides, I'm the Texans GM; a Bortles pick here feels too much like David Carr in 2002.

I have to roll the dice with Manziel. Manziel fits the trend of mobile quarterbacks that the NFL is going to. His arm is better than he gets credit for, and his legs will buy an occasional first down sorely needed to keep the Texans defense off the field for a breather. The solid Texans run game will also be helpful in supporting Manziel while he adjusts to the pro game. This team could also use some star power, and "Johnny Football" will definitely bring that.
