2014 NFL Mock Draft: DT Ra'Shede Hageman to the San Diego Chargers with the 25th pick

Troy Taormina-USA TODAY Sports

So far in our community-drive mock draft, the AFC West GMs have drafted disappointingly well. Aren't Broncos fans inclined to sabotage their division rivals? Why hasn't anybody drafted JaMarcus Russell yet?

The Chiefs took WR Odell Beckham, Jr. - a decent pick currently enjoying a 79% approval rating - while the Raiders drafted Khalil Mack 5th overall, a move I consider an outright steal.

Perhaps the Chargers GM, drafting 25th overall, will succumb to orange and blue temptation and virtually cripple Denver's division (and 2013 playoff) opponent. They are my least favorite team, after all...

[dramatic pause]

Alas, no such luck. This GM is an actual Chargers fan. The MHR mock draft's legitimacy will continue untarnished. Damn it all.

With the 25th overall pick in the 2014 Mile High Report Community Mock Draft, the San Diego Chargers select...

Ra'Shede Hageman, DT, Minnesota

Writes boltfan: "With the top tier CBs off the board, the Chargers take Ra'Shede Hageman, who has a higher upside than Louis Nix and is athletic enough to play DT or DE in different packages.  San Diego needs a young, athletic NT between their athletic DEs Corey Liuget and Kendall Reyes.  Hageman fills a hole that has been there since Jamal Williams left.

"The Chargers would also look for a possible trade down here - the Browns pick at 26 and need a QB, so another team that needs one (i.e. Raiders) could try and move in here to grab a Derek Carr or Jimmy Garappolo."

That's a shrewd point. Let's see who the Browns draft tomorrow, shall we?
