With huge needs at OT, WR, and CB Carolina tried very hard to trade up and get their man. They were unable to find a suitor to get the deal done at a fair price. They had their sights set on Brandin Cooks and Odell Beckham Jr. at WR if they were to fall to 28. They were unable to trade up and get one of the top four tackles.

With the 28th pick in the 2014 NFL Draft the Carolina Panthers select...

Morgan Moses, OT, Virginia

It came down to which Offensive Tackle to select - Morgan Moses or Cyrus Kouandjio. In the end, GM Dave Gettleman and the Panthers are ecstatic about their selection of Moses. Morgan is a seasoned, athletic OT who will step in for departed starter Jordan Gross immediately.

The FO loves Jordan Matthews, Bruce Ellington and Davante Adams. They are counting on one of the talented receivers to be there when they pick in round two. Kyle Fuller was the #2 CB on their board behind Dennard. While Fuller would be a starter from day one, the CB crop is very deep in this draft. Bradley Roby was also in the discussion for this pick. But when the dust settled, Gettleman and the Carolina Brass felt priority #1 was to get an OT to protect the Franchise (Cam Newton). He got banged up pretty good last season and is recovering from surgery. The Panthers are very happy to fill a huge hole on their roster with MM. They will get their WR & CB with their next two selections.
