2014 NFL Mock Draft: TE Eric Ebron to the New England Patriots with the 29th pick

With the 29th pick in the 2014 Mile High Report Community Mock Draft, New England Patriots GM crushsg selects..

Wow! Did I some how end up on Pats Pulpit? This mock looks to favor the Patriots way too heavily for my liking.

I came in hoping to upgrade the front 7 by getting either Louis Nix, Ryan Shazier, Kony Ealy. Maybe I'd even take a flyer on a true elite playmaker on offense like tight end Austin Seferian-Jenkins from Washington; maybe one of the receivers would fall; maybe I could draft an interior offensive lineman and improve the Pats offense that way.

Nix fills the obvious hole and offers good value. Guard Xavier Su'a-Filo is another obvious choice at a position of need. Not to mention I will take Mosely next to Hightower and Mayo any day of the week. But there is a player still on the board who is impossible to ignore.

Eric Ebron, TE, North Carolina

With the 29th pick we are going to add one of the elite prospects in this drafts and a great toy for both Josh McDaniels and Tom Brady. How does one of the top few playmakers in the draft drop to 29? Just think of the options with Rob Gronkowski and Ebron on the field at the same time. He will offer a lot of what Hernandez brought to the team (without the homicidal part), and he is a much better blocker. This is the type of talent you can not pass up at this point of the draft even if it is not the biggest need. We just drafted what could be our #1 receiver in a couple of years at #29. If he does compare at all to Vernon Davis this will help even things up a little bit in the AFC.
