Superstar Contract Talks

They're both in their last years and we'd like for them to stay and be Broncos for a long time.- John Elway

John Elway has opened discussions with representatives for both Demaryius Thomas and Julius Thomas to discuss a new long term deal per the Denver Post.

This news could not have made me happier yesterday evening. All that is left now is to get the deals in place before training camp. For those wondering if Julius Thomas has really proven himself, he has already come out to predict he will be even better this season.

In a post-Peyton Manning era, it would be best to have both of these young superstars locked in long term.

AFC Championship rings to be had

Both Kayvon Webster and Chris Harris Jr. shows off their shiny new AFC Championship rings, but they'd obviously prefer a Super Bowl ring instead. The rings are pretty cool even if the outcome of the season was a disappointment. At least the players will have a small token to remind them of all the success they had prior to that last act of defeat. 2014 will no doubt be another year of redemption.

Horse Tracks

  • Take a moment to send good thoughts and prayers to Amy Van Dyken who suffered a severed spine in an ATV crash yesterday. She is the wife of former Broncos punter, Tom Rouen.
  • Sports Illustrated thinks Montee Ball is poised to have one of the best break out seasons from an AFC West team in 2014. I would agree with that assessment.
  • Jeff Legwold predicts one of the 2014 free agents signed by the Broncos will find his way to a Pro Bowl this season. Considering the wealth of talent picked up this offseason, that is not a very bold prediction if you ask me.
  • Peter King talked Jay Cutler in his MMQB yesterday. It was a good read, but I still don't like Cutler. Apparently, he knows his image needs an uplift finally. Go do some communal good, Cutler and keep losing games with a playoff berth on the line. The entire article was basically about changing the locker room culture into one of acceptance. There was a Rahim Moore mention though ... towards the end.
  • For you lovers of NFL history, there was another good read covering the final two games played in Los Angeles on December 24, 1994 - dubbed 'The Day the NFL Died in L.A.' and its a sad story. Both home teams lost too.
