Week two of OTAs begins this morning for the Denver Broncos. Like last week we here at Mile High Report will keep you updated on everything happening at Dove Valley. Check out last weeks OTA news and updates for the Denver Broncos here. We're all still awaiting the Broncos to sign their 2014 rookie deals in place, so stay tuned to MHR for news on that.
Here's a roundup of today's news and updates.
Wolfe up to 290+lbs:
Some good news here
#Broncos DL Derek Wolfe said he's up to 290 pounds, which is allowing him to line up inside (and not just at end).
— Lindsay Jones (@bylindsayhjones) June 2, 2014
Lindsay Jones is reporting that Denver Broncos DE/DT is up to 290lbs. This is good to hear after Wolfe suffered a scary spinal injury in 2013, and is working his way back into football shape. Wolfe was below 260lbs at one point last season.

Must Reads
I find it interesting that Wolfe is adding weight to lineup inside and outside. This may mean we could see Malik Jackson more at LDE in "base packages" with Wolfe rotating in at times. I would also expect Wolfe and Jackson playing inside in nickel packages with DeMarcus Ware and Von Miller on the edges.
Wolfe has said that he feels more comfortable inside then he was on the outside. With Wolfe weighing the most he has during his NFL career, and his statements make me believe we will see Wolfe at DT more in 2014.
DT Derek Wolfe said he's more comfortable inside rather than at DE. He weighs 290, heaviest he's been since joining the #Broncos

Oz Struggles:
According to Cecil Lammey, today was a rough day for the backup Quarterback.
Brock Osweiler struggled today, I asked Fox about it & he said "We like the way Brock is progressing" #Broncos committed to Brock as QB2
— Cecil Lammey (@cecillammey) June 2, 2014
It appears that Osweiler is still going through some growing pains. It is still disappointing to hear that your "Quarterback Of The Future" is struggling during OTAs. However, it was just one day and he still can make up for it.
UDFA Running Backs impressing?:
Earlier today Cecil Lammey tweeted some encouraging nuggets about some of the undrafted rookie running backs the Broncos brought in this year.
A name to remember in the backup RB competition for #Broncos - Jerodis Williams - made some good plays as receiver out of the backfield 2day
— Cecil Lammey (@cecillammey) June 2, 2014
Brennan Clay continues to show well in space, speed and explosion are there, cuts without losing speed #Broncos
— Cecil Lammey (@cecillammey) June 2, 2014
Juwan Thompson most impressive UDFA rookie RB 2day, great receiver plus good burst after the catch, enough speed to make the edge at 2lvl
— Cecil Lammey (@cecillammey) June 2, 2014
The Denver Broncos Offensive Coordinator Adam Gase has said that the Denver Broncos number two tailback position is "Wide Open" right now. That means C.J Anderson, Ronnie Hillman and Kapri Bibbs along with the others mentioned above are competing for that spot.
This will be my favorite position battle to watch during Training Camp and the Preseason.
Von Miller showing explosiveness?:
Von Miller is almost six months removed from an ACL injury, and it appears that the Broncos All-Pro pass rusher is progressing well, and is ahead of schedule
Von Miller showing explosiveness in 1-on-1 work to the side, lateral agility coming back. Word is he's ahead in his recovery #Broncos
— Cecil Lammey (@cecillammey) June 2, 2014
If the Broncos can get Miller healthy for the season opener, and pair him with DeMarcus Ware who is also looking like his old self. They have the makings of one of the best pass rushing tandems in a long time.
It's a joy watching DeMarcus Ware at #Broncos minicamp. 1 of the best pass-rushers in #NFL history showing plenty left in the tank

Cody Latimer looking good:
The Broncos second round pick Cody Latimer is still recovering from a foot injury he suffered late in the 2013 College season. The Broncos plan on keeping him out of extensive work until Training Camp starts in late July. However, Latimer was looking explosive today per reports.
Cody Latimer doing lateral work at #Broncos OTAs - looking explosive out of his breaks
— Cecil Lammey (@cecillammey) June 2, 2014
It's good to hear that he isn't suffering any setbacks with his foot, and can do football related activities while showing explosion.
I believe the Broncos drafted a real find here in Latimer.
Emphasis On The Run Game?:
Denver Broncos Pro Bowl guard Louis Vasquez said today that they plan on emphasizing the run game more in 2014.
Louis Vasquez says the team is going to emphasize the run a bit more #Broncos hes excited about Montee Ball pic.twitter.com/U6oyn3Jpch
— Cecil Lammey (@cecillammey) June 2, 2014
With the Broncos moving former Right Tackle Orlando Franklin to Left Guard, look for the Broncos to run behind him and Vasquez and Ramirez more in 2014. I would also look for them to use more two-tight end sets in 2014.
The Broncos and Vasquez are excited about Montee Ball in 2014.
Burse continuing to impress:
Undrafted rookie Isaiah Burse is having himself a solid OTA thus far. Burse has been penciled into the Broncos final 53 man roster by some fans/writers as their primary kick/punt returner. The Broncos didn't re-sign Trindon Holliday so they do have a need at returner. However, Burse is showing he might be more then just a returner.
Isaiah Burse showing off again, 2day not only with speed & quickness, but body control near the pylon/sidelines #Broncos
— Cecil Lammey (@cecillammey) June 2, 2014
Burse will need to have a very good OTA/Training Camp/Preseason to crack the roster as a receiver. I like his chances as a returner though.
It will be interesting to see if he can push Andre "Bubba" Caldwell for a roster spot.
Stay tuned to Mile High Report for news and updates regarding Denver Broncos OTAs. I will update this post if more news comes out from Dove Valley
Go Broncos!
