Ed Mulholland-USA TODAY Sports

Via DenverBroncos.com:

The Broncos designated tight end Joel Dreessen as released/failed physical on Tuesday, ending his two-year run with the team.  The nine-year veteran joined the Broncos via free agency prior to the 2012 season, coming over from Houston after five seasons with the Texans.

In his first year in Denver, he started 15 of 16 regular season games and caught 41 passes for 356 yards and five touchdowns.Last year, Dreessen played in 13 games and made seven catches for 47 yards and a touchdown.

If you've been following MHR for any length of time, this move was a long time coming.  The emergence of Julius Thomas and Virgil Green to the starting lineup coupled with Joel's salary and nagging injuries have created speculation about is place on the roster for months now.

According to overthecap.com, this will create 666,668 in dead money, but free up 2.5 million to the cap.  The Broncos now have about 6.8 million in cap room.
