Demaryius Thomas had been excused from the first days of Training Camp to attend the funeral of his paternal grandmother, Gladys Thomas, who died last week after a two-year battle with Alzheimer's Disease.
The superstar wide receiver is ready to get on the field and get down to business. He made it back in time for Monday afternoon walkthroughs.
"All the guys are keeping me smiling, that's the main thing," Thomas said. "Just being back out here to do what I love. It was great."
Thomas also gave "hats off" to the Broncos for letting him go to the funeral and for "looking out for me and my family."
And now he's happy to be back with his teammates.
"When I was gone, [I] had a lot of guys calling and texting and checking on me, so that made me feel better too," he said.
"I'm good," Thomas added. "It was tough yesterday to bury my grandma, but since then everything's been good. I know she's in a better place now, so I'm fine and ready to play football."
His teammates on offense are ready too.
"Whenever he is ready, he is ready," said Wes Welker Monday. "We know what type of player he is, what type of person he is, and we are ready to have him out here on this football field with us."
And so are we, DT!
