Summer is winding down and professional football is on the horizon. In one month from today on Thursday, August 7, the Denver Broncos will play their first preseason contest of 2014.
It'll be a Super Bowl rematch. (Full preseason schedule below.)

The Broncos will host the Seattle Seahawks at Sports Authority Field at 7 p.m. MT with the game being televised on KUSA-TV (NBC). The contest will mark both team's first game since Super Bowl XLVIII, which the Broncos lost 43-8.
Six months prior to the beat down in the Super Bowl, Denver lost to Seattle 40-10 on the road in their second preseason contest of 2013. Though preseason games are meaningless, they can give an indication of a team's overall depth. Last year, the Seahawks were clearly a deeper—and better—team.
Denver has improved this offseason, signing players including receiver Emmanuel Sanders, defensive backs Aqib Talib and T.J. Ward, and defensive end DeMarcus Ware. Broncos fans can only hope such signings will help narrow the 35-point gap between Seattle and Denver.
Five games after hosting Russell Wilson's Seahawks in preseason, Peyton Manning's Broncos will play Seattle again, this time in a game that counts. The 'Hawks will host the Broncos in Week 3 of the regular season on Sunday, September 21 on CBS (full 2014 regular season here).
We're counting on you to beat those blasted Ospreys this time, Peyton.
Note: This story mistakenly originally read that Denver's first preseason game was one week away from today on August 8. The post has since been updated.
