Denver Broncos starting weakside linebacker Danny Trevathan was carted off the practice field on Tuesday, according to several reports.
Update: Trevathan has fractured shin, will miss four to eight weeks
Trevathan was unable to put any weight on his left leg. John Fox confirmed the injury was to Trevathan's knee (see the update at the bottom of this post).
Uh oh Danny Trevathan down on the field. Trainers tending to him now.

cart is coming out for Danny Trevathan at #Broncos camp - update will come from John Fox after practice

Practice tenor completely different now. Trevathan was coming over against the run and rolled to the ground in a thicket of players.
— Andrew Mason (@MaseDenver) August 12, 2014
Mason's comment on tenor is likely referring to the "serious" fights that broke out earlier in practice today.
We don't know the seriousness of Trevathan's injury yet, but pulling out the cart at Dove Valley is never good. Losing Trevathan, who enjoyed a breakout year in 2013, for any period of time would be the first serious blow to the 2014 Denver Broncos defense. Behind Trevathan on the Broncos' preseason depth chart are Brandon Marshall and Jamar Chaney, althoughLamin Barrow is also thought to be a candidate at Trevathan's Will position.
Update 11:24 a.m. MDT
John Fox provided only a minor update, specifying that it was, in fact, a suspected knee injury for Trevathan.

Update 11:52 a.m. MDT - Preliminary tests are "encouraging"
ESPN reports Trevathan will undergo an MRI Tuesday. We'll be waiting for those test results.
Our fingers are still crossed.
