Denver Broncos News: Horse Tracks - It's still early

Good morning Broncos Country!

Ron Chenoy-USA TODAY Sports

Scrimmage showcases offense

Both the #1 and #2 offenses were able to find the endzone yesterday.  Perhaps the biggest disappointment to fans was not that the Manning-led offense scored, but that the re-vamped defense allowed Brock Osweiler to do the same.  It is far too early to say the defense has issues.  Remember, for most of camp they have given the offense all they can handle.  Instead of looking  to practice for reports of success, I would suggest waiting until both the offense and defense have been tested in preseason.  You don't win a Lombardi by beating up your own in August.

Add Hillman and Tamme to roster misconceptions

Ronnie Hillman is the latest whipping boy among fans.  Disappointment from a season ago has led many to write off the third year back.  What folks should remember though is that he has far more experience and understanding of the offense when compared to the UDFA rookies.  Until further notice, Hillman is in the rotation and ahead of the UDFA rookies some have already earmarked for the 53-man squad.

Call him "Mr. reliable,"  Peyton Manning did in so many words.  With Julius Thomas out of the lineup due to precaution, the veteran TE made the most of his opportunities, hauling in a Peyton Manning pass one-handed for a TD.  Jacob Tamme is going nowhere.  Gerrell Robinson, Cam Morrah, and the rest of the TE group must carve out their own place on this roster because Tamme is all but a lock to make it.  Nobody likes to pay their insurance, but I guarantee the 3 million attached to Tamme's policy is worth every penny.

HOF once again snubbs worthy Broncos

I did not watch the Hall of Fame induction ceremony.  This is my way of telling voters they need to right the wrongs of seasons past. There are a list of Broncos that deserve to be inducted, and until they are, the voters are robbing Canton of some of the best to play the game.  Terrell Davis and Randy Gradishar are just the tip of the iceberg.  It is a shame that one of the most successful franchises in NFL is so under-represented.
