Denver Broncos running back Montee Ball was a surprise absentee from Broncos training camp on Day 12. We were all waiting to hear word from Coach John Fox about Ball's status after practice, but ESPN's Adam Schefter has the early word on Ball.
Broncos RB Montee Ball will undergo an appendectomy today but is expected to be ready for regular-season opener vs. Colts, per source.

Ball, a second year player, is the Broncos' starting running back on their 2014 depth chart. Behind Ball are Ronnie Hillman and C.J. Anderson, who look to benefit from the extra playing time in the preseason that Ball's absence will provide.
Alluding to the timing of the injury, head coach John Fox called it "kind of a blessing" after practice Monday.
Multiple reports suggest that Ball will miss all of the Broncos 2014 preseason, which kicks off this Thursday against the Seattle Seahawks, but will be back September 7th for the season-opener against the Indianapolis Colts.
