Wes Welker concussion: Broncos receiver returns to practice

Welker was limited in practice; we'll see if he's on track to play Week One vs. the Colts.

Tim Heitman-USA TODAY Sports

According to multiple reports, Denver Broncos wide receiver Wes Welker is participating in some individual drills during today's practice, but has yet to be cleared fully to participate in game.

This is obviously good news for Welker who suffered his third concussion in less then a year during the Broncos third preseason game against the Houston Texans. It's probably too early to speculate whether Welker is ready to play vs. Indianapolis, but he's on track.

There has been a lot of positivity surrounding Welker's recovery from this concussion. When it initially happened many(including myself) were thinking that Welker should start thinking about stepping away from the game for his own safety. Thankfully it appears that Welker's more padded helmet helped cushioned the blow some.

The next step for Welker is to get fully cleared for contact, and to play in a game. The way his recovery is going so far i think it's safe to assume that he will get that clearance sometime this week.

Ronnie Hillman and Kayvon Webster still sidelined

Over the weekend a report surfaced that Denver Broncos running back Ronnie Hillman and cornerback Kayvon Webster fell ill after Thursday's night game against the Dallas Cowboys, and both were taken to a Dallas are hospital for treatment. Hillman was released, but corner Kayvon Webster spent the night. The Broncos did not disclose the nature of their illness, just that they were taken to the hospital for treatment.

Webster has rejoined the team, and both are out there with the team.

Neither participated in the individual drills portion of practice, but i believe they were just being cautious with the two. Thankfully it appears that the two appear to be healthy after their scary health scare on Thursday night.

Ben Garland misses practice

Broncos backup guard Ben Garland also missed practice after suffering a minor injury during the Broncos preseason finale against the Dallas Cowboys. It doesn't sound like he will be sidelined long which is good news.

Go Broncos!
