Live Blog: NFL Week 3 Thursday Night Football

The hapless Tampa Bay Buccaneers take on the Atlanta Falcons on Thursday Night Football. Personally, I have almost zero interest in the outcome of this game beyond fantasy football, but who knows, maybe they will surprise us with a good football game.

If you've been hanging out here since Week 1, you may have noticed I've been making picks along the way. As a member of a 40 person pick'em league, there is some good prize money to be had each week for picking well. I did just that in Week 1, getting $40 for finishing second place that week and I would have landed myself in first place had I just kept my picks in Week 2. Did I do that?  No.  I changed three picks ... they all lost. My gut is smarter than my brain, apparently.

I switched picks to Miami, Tennessee and Detroit.  Fail. Fail. And Fail. Had I stood pat, I would have ended up with sole possession of first place in what was a disastrous week for all 40 members of this group. Just one person picked 10 games correctly, with myself at 8 games. If you've never competed in a straight up pick'em league, I would highly recommend it. It's fun and keeps you paying attention to teams not named "Denver Broncos".

  • Last Week: 8-8
  • Season: 19-13

Shockingly, I am still tied for third place overall. In a typical year, this kind of percentage would have me down in the middle of the pack. I'll take it. On to tonight's pick!

Tampa Bay Buccaneers (0-2) at Atlanta Falcons (1-1)

After losing to the St. Louis Rams at home, everyone and their mother is fading on the Buccaneers. The worst part is that the Bucs could have won that game had a player on their not gotten injured with less than ten seconds left in the game. Such is life. The Falcons on the other hand are coming off a beating in Cincinnati where it became obvious that they too are not a true contender right now. I shouldn't bash them too much, because our Broncos could be in for a beating this weekend too. This game is in Atlanta though, so it really should be a double digit victory for the Falcons, but that all depends on which Falcons team show up tonight. Prediction: Falcons 27, Buccaneers 16.
