Wes Welker fantasy football value plummets following suspension

If you drafted the Broncos wide receiver in the early rounds, you're going to have a bad time. But all is not lost.

Let's check in on fantasy football, shall we?

Before Wes Welker's four-game suspension was announced, the Denver Broncos wide receiver's fantasy stock was already dipping quite a bit. The concussion he suffered in Week 3 of the preseason was causing fantasy owners to be come fearful, and the slot machine's average draft position (ADP) was dropping because of it, according to Yahoo! Sports.

For those who’ve yet to draft, Welker’s already plummeting value slips into the abyss. According to Fantasy Football Calculator, his ADP, largely due to complications from his latest concussion, had declined a full two rounds over the past seven days, landing in the high 60s. In light of Tuesday’s shocking news, expect him to bottom out in the 100-110 overall range, taking up residence alongside discounted wideouts Anquan Boldin, Hakeem Nicks and Rueben Randle.

Does that mean you should trade Welker away if you have him already? Of course not. Stash him on your bench. He'll be healthy and roaring back come Week 6; in fact, if you are particularly deep somewhere on your roster, he's a decent buy-low candidate. Trade that 4th or 5th running back to a desperate Welker owner now for Week 6 Welker rewards later.

Editor's Note: SB Nation's partner FanDuel is hosting a $1,000,000 Fantasy Football Contest for Week 1's NFL games. It's only $25 to join and first place wins $100,000. Starts Sunday, September 7th at 1pm ET. Here's the link. FYI: The statements in this post are strictly my opinions.
