The Denver Broncos' search for their next head coach may include their current assistant coaches, but a promotion is unlikely, according to multiple reports.
Broncos offensive coordinator Adam Gase is considered the most likely internal candidate for a promotion, given his good relationship with Peyton Manning, but the Denver Post's Mike Klis says Gase is unlikely to receive a promotion. It's not clear if Klis is referencing sources when speaking to that likelihood.
Still, Sports Illustrated's Peter King agrees with Klis.
I would pump the brakes on Adam Gase getting this Denver job. Not saying it won't happen, but I believe Elway will look around.

However, ProFootballTalk.com's Mike Florio cites a league source in saying that Gase will be considered for the opening.
Who to believe? It's hard to tell. Maybe there's truth in both: Gase will be considered, but according to someone Klis knows, it's unlikely.
Then again, Klis has been wrong before about the Broncos not being interested in someone.
Menawhile, the San Francisco 49ers are reportedly in heavy pursuit of Gase, possibly meeting with him as soon as Monday night. Defensive coordinator Jack Del Rio has a 2nd interview lined up with the Oakland Raiders Monday as well.
