I flipped records last week, finishing 11-5 (with one loss being my pick against the Broncos - I deserved that). This week is going to be tough, because I want to pick against a few teams that the majority of people will be pounding hard this week.
The no-brainer picks this week have to be the Indianapolis Colts over the Jacksonville Jaguars, the Atlanta Falcons over the Houston Texans and the Carolina Panthers over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Even then, I have no faith in the Colts offensive line and the Jaguars are trending up even with that 50-point beatdown by the New England Patriots last week. I have to add the Buffalo Bills over the New York Giants as a no-brainer, which didn't really dawn on me until I got further into this post. The Bills are a damn good football team.
The toss up games are the New York Jets over the Miami Dolphins as I just don't like what I see from Miami through three weeks, but they are at home so it could go their way. The other toss up is Cincinnati Bengals over the Kansas City Chiefs. I really do think the Chiefs are a playoff caliber team, but they are on the road and facing a third straight loss. Bad times for Arrowhead Pride.
My first upset would be the Chicago Bears over the Oakland Raiders. Sure the Raiders played a couple of good games and the Bears looked awful, but I have a feeling the Bears show up in this game and stun the upstart Raiders. My other upset pick is the Washington Redskins beating the Philadelphia Eagles at home. The Eagles are overrated and the Redskins are underrated. It should be a low scoring defensive battle.
Who are you rooting for in these early games?
