Broncos vs. Chiefs injury report: Manning returns to practice, and Sanders continues to sit out

Here is your Thursday Injury report for the Denver Broncos and the Kansas City Chiefs.

Brian Spurlock-USA TODAY Sports

Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning returned to practice on Thursday as expected. He sat out Wednesday's practice with a sore foot from playing on the turf at Lucas Oil Stadium this past Sunday. Manning will be suited up to take on the division rival Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday.

Wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders continued to sit out Thursday's practice. He has been dealing with a bunch of injuries since Training Camp. He has battled hamstring, a shoulder, and now an ankle injury so far this season. I don't see Sanders missing Sunday's game, but another missed practice on Friday does add some doubt.

After a big performance Sunday, veteran tight end Owen Daniels likely received a "rest day" on Wednesday. Daniels returned to practice on Thursday. His status is not in doubt for Sunday's game.

Rookie first-round pick Shane Ray practiced again on Thursday. He is returning from an MCL injury that he suffered against the Cleveland Browns a few weeks ago. With two practices in this week, it is looking good that the Broncos will have their rookie pass rusher back this weekend.

The news wasn't as good for veteran linebacker DeMarcus Ware. He is suffering from a back injury and was the only player not present(likely undergoing treatment) during Thursday's practice. Look for Ware to sit out this weekend's game, and linebackers Shaquil Barrett and Shane Ray to replace him in the Broncos starting defensive lineup.
