Report: Emmanuel Sanders is a "long shot" to play against the Chiefs

It looks like the Broncos will be without one of their top targets on offense.

According to NFL Networks James Palmer, Denver Broncos wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders will work out at 11:30 MT to see if he's good enough to play today's game. With that said, Palmer is told that it is a "long shot" that Sanders plays today.

News about Sanders status will probably be announced soon before the inactives are announced.

If Sanders does not play, look for Andre Caldwell, Jordan Norwood, Bennie Fowler, and possibly Cody Latimer to pick up the slack at receiver in his absence.

Earlier this week, Denver Broncos Head Coach Gary Kubiak hinted that good things are ahead for second-year wide receiver Cody Latimer. With Sanders possibly out, this could be a big opportunity for Latimer.

Cody is working to be a good pro and that's all you can ask as a coach. He's ready to go this week. I think that good things are going to happen for this young man before this year's out."

Another player who could step up if Sanders is out is recently acquired tight end, Vernon Davis. He is expected to have a larger role in the offense this week, and could pick up a few extra targets in Sanders absence.
