Editor's Note: FanDuel is hosting a FREE Week 9 fantasy football league where half the teams win cash on Sunday. New users only. Join now!
The perfect lineup in standard scoring in week 8 would have looked like this:
Drew Brees (44 standard league points), Todd Gurley (20)*, Ronnie Hillman (18)*, Odell Beckham (31)*, Malcolm Floyd (21), Tavon Austin (21)*, Benjamin Watson (20)*, Texans D/ST (19)*, Justin Tucker (20)
Those asterisks next to the (scores) are players that this column recommended as plays last week. So, hopefully you got those extra 129 points in your lineup. Also, hopefully you're in a PPR league, because some of those numbers were even higher. Most of all, you're welcome for telling you to start 6 of the top 9 scoring fantasy players of last week, just kidding.
Not one, but two Denver Broncos were in a top five fantasy football running back last week, Ronnie Hillman's 18 points were followed closely by C.J. Anderson's 16 and those point totals were good enough to be the third and fifth best running back in fantasy football in week 8.
After five consecutive weeks of giving you the best 'shiesty' move in fantasy football I failed you last week with my recommendation of Bennie Fowler (2 points), but hopefully Broncos fans witnessed what I was talking about. The guy catches everything and smashed some people on special teams.
My sleepers for you last week:
Brian Hoyer (17), Ryan Fitzpatrick (injured 2), Zach Mettenberger (2), Alex Smith (26), Charcandrick West (17), Darren McFadden (10), Alfred Blue (6), Charles Sims (4), Ronnie Hillman (18), Jeremy Maclin (9), Brandin Cooks (20), Stefon Diggs (15), Marvin Jones (1), Michael Crabtree (16), Golden Tate (5), Nate Washington (13), Willie Snead (19), Travis Benjamin (2), Rueben Randle (5), Stevie Johnson (2), Tavon Austin (21), Ladarius Green (1), Eric Ebron (2), Benjamin Watson (20), Crockett Gillmore (6).
Not all of those are the greatest numbers, but here is an example of Matthew Berry's Top 10 Waiver Wire pickups for week 8:
Jordan Reed (bye), Antonio Andrews (7), Ladarius Green (1), Marvin Jones (1), Orleans Darkwa (2), Teddy Bridgewater (11), Reggie Bush (0 injured), Tavon Austin (21), Jeremy Langford (4), Nate Washington (13).
So, using my waiver wire recommendations got you a ceiling of 141 points and a floor of 18 (ouch, very sorry), where as ESPN's Matthew Berry got you a ceiling of 58 and a floor of 37, which is me being very kind.
So, you wonderful people were recommended a team by me of waiver wire pickups that would have scored over 100 points in standard scoring for the fifth week in a row.
I have no idea what I am doing...

Get called shiesty this Monday and Tuesday:
Let's all keep in mind that my shiesty pick has been great every single week this season, except for last week when I chose Bennie Fowler. I really thought that it was his game.
Marcus Mariota was going to be my shiesty play this week (owned in 34% of Yahoo leagues), now he's not outscoring Tom Brady, Philip Rivers, Eli Manning or Aaron Rodgers in week 9 necessarily, but he is going to top Matt Ryan, Derek Carr, Ryan Tennehill, Blake Bortles, Andrew Luck numbers in my opinion. Some of those guys haven't even had byes this week.
I'll also through in Buffalo Bills wide receiver Robert Woods. Get him before he goes off this weekend, with Percy Harvin likely going to IR he's at worst WR2 in Buffalo and WR1 if/when Sammy Watkins gets hurt. With Taylor back, I love with Woods can do for your team.
Daily fantasy:
What fun is FanDuel if you don't get the satisfaction of grabbing someone on the cheap and watching him light up your scoreboard and wallet?
Go with these guys:
QB - Tom Brady, Philip Rivers, Ben Roethlisberger, Eli Manning, Tyrod Taylor, Drew Brees
RB - Devonta Freeman, Todd Gurley, Dion Lewis, Doug Martin, DeAngelo Williams, Darren McFadden, Mark Ingram, Jonathan Stewart, Jeremy Langford
WR - Odell Beckham, Alshon Jeffery, Antonio Brown, Randall Cobb, Willie Snead, Stevie Johnson, Martavis Bryant, Emmanuel Sanders, Michael Crabtree, Amari Cooper, Dez Bryant, Julio Jones, Brandon MArshall, Julian Edelman, Mike Evans, Demaryius Thomas, Jarvis Landry, Stefon Diggs
TE - Rob Gronkowski, Jordan Reed, Greg Olsen, ANtonio Gates, MArtellus Bennett, Charles Clay, Austin Seferian-Jenkins, Benjamin Watson
Avoid these guys:
QB - Teddy Bridgewater, Matt Cassel, Blaine Gabbert, Jameis Winston, Sam Bradford, Andrew Luck
RB - Orleans Darkwa, Alfred Williams, Karlos Williams, James Starks
WR - Marques Colston, Jamison Crowder, Andre Johnson, Donte Moncrief, Anquan Boldin
TE - Owen Daniels, Jared Cook, Kyle Rudolph, Vernon Davis, Larry Donnell, Richard Rodgers, Ladarius Green
Broncos players:
Peyton Manning... Well, yeah, start him, him failing in this game is just not in his character, with that in mind start Demaryius Thomas, Emmanuel Sanders, Ronnie Hillman and.... Vernon Davis (do you believe?). Well, maybe not Davis just yet, but roster him and enjoy the possible touchdown that he can pick up against the Indianapolis Colts. You will never have to ask whether to start the Denver defense or Brandon McManus again for the rest of the season.
Yes, I know that Ronnie Hillman has a bruised thigh... I don't know if that makes C.J. Anderson worth starting, I am going to guess that the answer is still no (despite him being top 5 last week).
Last week:
Bombs over Baghdad this week, I wouldn't start Peyton Manning or Owen Wilson, but Denver's defense is going to be tagging Aaron Rodgers and those Green Bay receivers all night. Demaryius Thomas came out of the bye week last season and went off like exorcism. Jordan Norwood is likely out, so that means more targets for both Thomas and Emmanuel Sanders. I have a shiesty call in for Bennie Fowler (who you will see below I've even inserted into a DFS lineup). I'd even start Ronnie HIllman this week, but sit C.J. Anderson and of course Brandon McManus is going to have to work.
My craziest DFS lineup this week:
Tom Brady, Devonta Freeman, Jeremy Langford, Randall Cobb, Steve Johnson, Alshon Jeffery, Jordan Reed, Robbie Gould, New Orleans Saints
Notes:
Among teams not on bye this week:
Five worst fantasy defenses to QBs (worst to fifth): Saints, Giants, 49ers, Buccaneers Colts
Five best fantasy defenses to QB (best to fifth): Broncos, Rams, Panthers, Eagles, Jets
Five worst fantasy defenses to RBs (worst to fifth): Chargers, 49ers, Colts, Falcons, Giants
Five best fantasy defenses to RBs (best to fifth): Jets, Eagles, Vikings, Steelers, Patriots
Five worst fantasy defenses to WRs (worst to fifth): 49ers, Saints, Colts, Browns, Giants
Five best fantasy defenses to WRs (best to fifth): Broncos, Rams, Panthers, Falcons, Cowboys
